MANCHESTER, N.H. (Oct. 4, 2016) – Powered by goals from junior Alyssa Iannuzzi (Massapequa Park, N.Y./Massapequa), sophomore Haley Noble (Torrance, Calif./Torrance) and freshman Jessica Brandt (Folsom, Calif./Folsom), the Mercy College women's soccer team earned their seventh straight win with a 3-0 victory over Saint Anselm College on Tuesday afternoon at Melucci Field.

The Mavericks (8-2) match their win total from last season and are 6-0 in true road games this season. The Hawks (4-6-1) see their two-game winning streak come to an end with the loss.

Iannuzzi recorded her second goal of the season, while Noble picked up her team-leading eighth goal of the year and added an assist. Brandt netted her third goal of the season and chipped in an assist and junior Heidi Serna (West Covina, Calif./South Hills) and sophomore Corinna Ferrante (Patchogue, N.Y./Patchogue-Medford) contributed assists. Junior Ashley Price (Goodyear, Ariz./Millennium) made three saves to post the shutout victory and improve to 7-2 on the year.

Saint Anselm was led by Jillian Beatty, Nicole Rust and Caly Farina who all recorded shots on goal. Goalkeeper Elise Bouchard made two saves in taking the loss.

In a contest that featured just 16 total shots between the two teams, the Mavericks made the most of their chances scoring three goals on five shots on goal.

After Beatty opened the contest with the first shot on goal that was stopped by Price, Mercy came back in the 8th minute and scored to make it 1-0. Noble sent a cross from the right to Serna who controlled the ball and sent it over to Brandt who finished in the lower right corner to get the Mavericks on the board early.

Mercy did not waste any time on scoring again as Noble found the back of the net in the 12th minute to give the Mavericks a 2-0 advantage. Noble received a cross from Brandt on the left side and tapped the ball into the net at the six yard box to give Mercy an early two-goal advantage.

The score remained 2-0 in favor of the Mavericks heading into halftime with Saint Anselm holding a 7-5 edge in shots.

The second half saw the Mercy backline hold the Hawks to just one shot, while the offense put the game away in the 60th minute when Iannuzzi fired a shot from 30 yards out past the goalkeeper off an assist by Ferrante to make it 3-0.

The two teams ended the day with eight shots apiece, while the Mavericks held a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Head Coach Jonathan Feinstein and the Mavericks look to make it eight wins in a row when they host LIU Post on Saturday, October 8th at 12 p.m.
