Stokes Takes Home MBWA Division II-III Player of the Week Honorable Mention Recognition
Box Score NEW YORK, N.Y. (Feb. 16, 2016) – Mercy College men's basketball senior Shaquille Stokes (Harlem, N.Y./College of Saint Rose) has received Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association (MBWA) men's basketball Division II-III Player of the Week Honorable Mention recognition for games played Feb. 8-14.
Stokes averaged a team-high 23.0 points per game in two games this week off the bench for the Mavericks. The senior began the week with a season-high 29 points against SUNY Delhi on Tuesday on 11-of-19 shooting and followed that up with a team-high 17 points against Daemen on Saturday. Stokes shot 47.2 percent on the week and averaged 2.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.0 steals per game.
The MBWA accolade is the second earned by Stokes this season and is the fourth overall for the senior. The award is the ninth earned by a Maverick this season.
