The nightcap saw the visitors get on the board first again as they put up one run off of an RBI from Kamryn Beach, allowing Paige Owens to score the first run of the contest in the top of the fourth inning.
Mercy came back with an answer in their half of the fourth as junior Julie Gross (Port Monmouth, N.J./Middletown North) singled to center field for the RBI as Marzigliano scored the first run of the day for the Mavericks. Freshman Rebecca Souza (Wallingford, Conn./Mark T. Sheehan) was then able to score as Lloyd recorded her first RBI of the game on a fielder's choice. The fourth inning came to a close with Mercy leading 2-1.
Bridgeport found their best inning offensively in the top of the sixth inning when four Purple Knights were able to score, allowing them to gain a 5-2 lead over the Mavericks.
Mercy was ready to score in the sixth inning, as they were not leaving without a fight. Souza was able to score her second run of the game after Lloyd was walked to get the scoring rally going. McCormick then had her shining moment in the bottom of the sixth inning when she blasted a double to left center field to bring in three runs, advancing to third on an error by the Bridgeport catcher. This allowed Mercy to gain their 6-5 lead over the Purple Knights. The scoring was not done there, as Konyar stepped to the plate and hit another double for the Mavericks, bringing junior Jackie Kielty (Middleboro, Mass./Dean College) and McCormick to home plate for the two more runs. The Mavericks then capitalized off of a double steal, as Marzigliano was able to steal second and Konyar stole home. Souza's RBI would be the last of the game, as she brought Marzigliano home for the tenth run after a groundout, making it 10-5 after eight runs scored in the inning.
Freshman McKaily Cusumano (Monroe, Mich./Monroe) made the start in the circle and went the first 5 1/3 innings before giving way to Kielty who pitched the last 1 2/3 innings to pick up the win. For the Purple Knights, Kaitlyn Lajoie pitched a total of five innings and struck out three batters.
