Nalbone pitches full game as Baseball splits with Molloy College

Box Score 2 The Mavericks are now 10-22 overall and 3-11 in the East Coast Conference. The Lions is now currently 25-13 and 9-5 in the ECC.
Game 1: Molloy 4, Mercy 0
The first game of the afternoon saw dominate offensively, as they scored four runs on nine hits.
After a total of five scoreless innings to start the contest, Molloy got on the board in the bottom of the sixth inning with an RBI single from sophomore Angelo Navetta, allowing junior Anthony Alberghina to score.
Three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning would put the game away for the Lions as senior Nicholas Gonchar was able to nail a double through the right side, bringing in two Lions to increase the score to 3-0. Junior Anthony Galanoudis then tripled to right center, bringing in the final run of the game.
Senior Scott Hagan and freshman Joesph Sadallah both recorded hits for the Mavericks. Senior James Patterson pitched a total of 7.2 innings for the Mavericks, striking out seven batters. Junior Ronald Bauer pitched 8.0 innings for the Lions, striking out five.
Game 2: Mercy 5, Molloy 4
The nightcap saw the Mavericks fight harder offensively, as Mercy was able to record a total of eight hits in game two.
The Lions were once again the first to score in game two, as Gonchar blasted his second RBI double of the day down the right field line, driving in junior Brian Murphy in the bottom of the second inning. Molloy would increase their lead to 2-0 in the bottom of the third inning, when Murphy singled to left field, bringing junior Kevin Podell home.
The Mavericks were able to put up a fight and get on the board in the top of the fourth inning. Sophomore Bryan Torres drilled a triple to right center to lead off the inning. Hagan's single would bring Torres in for the first Maverick run of the game.
The Mavericks would continue their scoring in the top of the sixth inning when they were able to score four runs on five hits. Sadallah was able to tie the score 2-2 when Hagan singled to the right center. Freshman Nick Chilson was then able to drive in the third run of the game when he flied out to right field, recording an RBI and bringing Torres in for the run. Next up was junior Randal Mendez, who singled through the left side, bringing Hagan home to increase the Maverick lead to 4-2. The final run of the inning would be scored when senior Giovanni Lasalandra singled through the right side, bringing senior Justin Palladino home. The top of the sixth inning would come to a close with Mercy leading 5-2.
The Lions were able to get on the board in the bottom of the sixth, when sophomore Elijah Leerdam doubled to right center, bringing R-Jr Michael Rahn home. Next up was senior Deilyn Guzman, who singled to third base, bringing Galanoudis home. However, it was not enough as the Mavericks took game two 5-4 in seven innings.
On the mound for the Mavericks was Nalbone, who pitched a total of seven innings and struck out six batters. For Molloy, R-Jr Bobby Kelly pitched a total of 5.2 innings and struck out seven batters.
Head Coach Jason Lamando and the Mavericks return to action tomorrow as they host Molloy College for the final game of the four game series. The single game is set for a 12 pm start.
