Haines nets four goals in 13-7 victory over the Molloy Lions

The Mavericks now improve to 11-4 overall and 5-2 in the ECC. The Lions fall to 9-5 and 4-2 in the ECC.

For the Mavericks, freshman Hunter Isnardi was a threat throughout the field, as she recorded two goals, two assists, two caused turnovers, and a game high five draw controls and four ground balls. Sophomore Emily Jehle also added three goals and two assists for the Mavericks. Sophomore Grace Davidson added two goals, three ground balls, three draw controls, and two caused turnovers. Seniors Nicole Kline and Meg McNally both added one goal. Kline also added one ground ball, one draw control, and one caused turnover. McNally added three assists for the victory.

Jessica Markowitz recorded a hat-trick for the Lions, scoring three goals, while grabbing two draw controls and one ground ball. Alexa Watson, Meghan Orlando, Katie O'Brien, and Brianna Wilson each added one for Molloy.

Mercy played a strong first half, as they were able to score six goals compared to the Lions one. Jehle opened up the scoring for the Mavericks at the 27:20 mark to put Mercy up 1-0. Five minutes later, Jehle would assist Isnardi in her first goal of the game. She then would add another assist at the 22:01 mark to set Haines up for her first goal of the contest. Haines was able to score the fourth goal of the game at the 12:34 mark off of a pass from McNally. Molloy would get on the board at the 4:19 mark when O'Brien put one in the net, unassisted. Isnardi closed the first half at the 3:44 mark with her second goal of the game, assisted by Haines. The Mavericks entered halftime with a 6-1 lead.

The Lions would be the first to score in the second half, as Markowitz put Molloy on the board at the  26:13 mark. Jehle was able to bring the score to 7-2 at the 24:51 mark when she scored unassisted. Back to back goals from the Lions in the 24th and 23rd minute from Markowitz and Wilson kept the Mavericks on their heels. Mercy was able to answer back and score six unanswered goals in the remaining time of the half. Davidson got the scoring started when she scored an unassisted goal at the 21:52 mark. Kline was then able to score just two minutes later off of an assist from Isnardi. Haines added her third goal of the game at the 17:20 mark off of an assist from McNally. McNally was then set up for a goal at 15:10 when Isnardi was able to dish off a pass. Haines and Jehle wrapped up the scoring for Mercy in the 15th and 12th minute of the contest. The Lions would score three more goals in the remaining time, but it was not enough compared to the Mavericks. Molloy fell to the Mavericks 13-7 in regulation time.

Junior Jillian Rocco played a full 60 minutes in net for the Mavericks, recording seven saves and grabbing three ground balls. Rocco is currently 10-1 in cage this season. Caroline Winters also played a full 60 minutes in goal, recording 15 saves for the Lions.

Head Coach Dawn Anselmin and the Mavericks will return to action on Wednesday, Apr. 27th when they travel to Essex Valley School to take on the Caldwell University Cougars at 4:00 pm.
