Five Named to Men's Lacrosse All-ECC Teams; MacSpadyen Tabbed Rookie of the Year
Box Score CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (May 4, 2016) – The No. 13 Mercy College men's lacrosse team has earned five All-ECC selections as announced by the East Coast Conference on Wednesday, headlined by freshman Ryan MacSpadyen (Toronto, Ontario/Seneca College) earning the program's first-ever Rookie of the Year. Senior Danny Chillianis (Bethpage, N.Y./Bethpage) was named a First Team selection, while senior Robert Rossi (North Massapequa, N.Y./Adelphi), MacSpadyen, senior Kyle Stockton (Medford, N.Y./Patchogue-Medford) and sophomore Ross Schnitzer (Scarsdale, N.Y./Loyola University Maryland) were Third Team honorees.

MacSpadyen earns the Rookie of the Year honor after being the top freshman point scorer in the conference. The four-time ECC Rookie of the Week led Mercy with 41 points on the season, coming on 23 goals and 18 assists. His point total ranks 14th in the conference, while his assist tally is in the top 10, coming in at No. 8. The midfielder finished with eight games of two or more goals, including hat-tricks against ECC foes UDC and Dominican.
Chillianis, who becomes the first Maverick in program history to ever receive All-ECC recognition for four years, captures First Team recognition in his final year as a Maverick after earning Second Team last year and Honorable Mention during his first two years on campus. The senior helped lead a defense that ranked in the top 10 nationally in goals allowed per game. Chillianis finished fourth on the team with 27 groundballs and third with 14 caused turnovers in 14 games.
Rossi takes home Third Team honors after earning Second Team recognition a year ago. The one-time Honor Roll recipient leads the team in goals with 25 and is second on the team with 38 points. The attackman also finished with 25 groundballs and was second on the team with five man-up goals.
Stockton earns Third Team accolades after receiving Honorable Mention a year ago. The senior is second on the team with 24 goals and is third on the team with 35 points. The midfielder also led the Mavericks with six man-up goals on the year, ranking third in the ECC in that category. Stockton has nine games with two or more goals, including four straight games with two goals during the Mavericks five-game winning streak.
Schnitzer receives All-Conference recognition for the first time after tying for the team lead in caused turnovers with 19, ranking sixth in the ECC. The sophomore also has 28 groundballs, ranking third on the team in helping lead a defense that ranked in the top nationally in fewest goals allowed per game.
