Scouting the Mavericks
Mercy is currently on a three-game losing streak and is coming off a 74-68 loss to Nyack on Tuesday. The Mavericks were picked to finish ninth in the ECC Preseason Poll with the top six teams qualifying for the ECC Tournament. Mercy looks to pick up their first-ever win over Daemen having gone 0-13 to start the series. The Mavericks are led by redshirt junior Bryan Griffin who leads the team in points per game with 19.2 and rebounding with 13.1 rebounds per game. The forward is currently third in the ECC in points per game and second in rebounds per game and is shooting a team-high 51.9 percent from the floor. Junior Nakeem Hamilton is second on the team with 13.0 points per game and was named to the ECC Honor Roll earlier this week. The guard has scored in double figures in four straight games and is averaging 21.5 points per game in his last two games. Junior Dayvon Cuffey is putting up 6.4 points per game and is second on the team with 5.2 rebounds per game.
Scouting the Wildcats
Daemen is currently on a ten-game winning streak and is coming off a 96-70 win over Roberts Wesleyan in their ECC opener on Saturday. The Wildcats are currently ranked No. 8 nationally in the NABC Coaches Poll and are ranked No. 1 in the D2SIDA East Region Media Poll. Daemen is led by three-time ECC Player of the Week and two-time ECC Defensive Player of the Week redshirt junior Andrew Sischo who leads the ECC with 25.4 points and 14.0 rebounds per game and is shooting a team-best 66.1 percent from the floor. Senior Jeff Redband is a one-time ECC Player of the Week and is averaging 11.2 points per game on a team-high 2.8 threes made per game. Senior Joey Wallace is a two-time ECC Defensive Player of the Week and is averaging 11.1 points per game and a team-high 3.3 assists per game with 5.4 rebounds per game.
Scouting the Redhawks
Roberts Wesleyan will face St. Thomas Aquinas on Friday before visiting the Mavericks on Sunday. The Redhawks enter Friday's game coming off a loss to Daemen on Saturday and have lost seven of their last eight games. Roberts Wesleyan was picked sixth in the ECC Preseason Poll and are led by junior Reggie Clark who leads the team with 16.4 points per game and averages a team-high 2.8 made threes per game. Redshirt freshman Amari Lee is second on the team with 14.1 points per game and 4.9 rebounds per game and leads the team with 3.4 assists per game. Junior Armon Nasseri is third on the team with 13.4 points per game and is bringing down a team-high 7.7 rebounds per game. Junior Zecaree Veiga rounds out four Redhawks averaging double figures with 10.2 points per game.
