Scouting the Mavericks
Mercy enters Thursday's game on a three-game losing streak but had a six-game winning streak prior to that for the first time since 1985. The Mavericks are currently off to their best 12-game start since 2014-15 when they started 7-5. Mercy looks to pick up their first-ever win over Saint Anselm in their sixth all-time meeting. The Mavericks are led by junior Amber Brown who recorded her 1,000th career point earlier in the season and is second in the ECC with 15.3 points per game. The forward also ranks in the top ten in the ECC in rebounds per game with 6.8 and is shooting 41.3 percent from the floor. Freshman Katie Wall has been named ECC Rookie of the Week three times and is second on the team with 12.7 points per game. The guard also ranks fifth in the ECC in assists per game with 3.9 and is fourth in the ECC shooting 38.7 percent from downtown. Senior Abigail Collier is posting 9.4 points per game and is second on the team with 5.9 rebounds per game.
Scouting the Hawks
Saint Anselm comes into Thursday's game ranked in the top ten nationally in the WBCA Coaches Poll and D2SIDA Media Poll. Saint Anselm is also ranked No. 1 in the latest D2SIDA East Region Media Poll. The Hawks are on a two-game losing streak having lost a pair of games down in Florida to Washburn and No. 16 Fort Hays State. Saint Anselm is led by senior Shannon Ryan who leads the East Region in both points per game (25.7) and rebounds per game (14.9). The forward shooting 55.1 percent from the floor and leads the team with 2.7 blocks per game. Junior Peyton Steinman was named USBWA National Player of the Week earlier this week and is second on the team with 19.2 points per game on 48.2 percent shooting. The guard also leads the team with 4.6 assists per game and is second with 1.8 steals per game.
