Game Preview: Volleyball Plays Three Matches at Stonehill This Weekend

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (Sept. 13, 2019) – The Mercy College volleyball team resumes action this weekend when they play three matches at Stonehill College.

Vs. Assumption – Mercy earned a 3-0 victory over the Greyhounds on November 3, 2018.

Scouting the Mavericks

The Mavericks have started 3-2 for the first time since 2013 and are coming off a straight-set win over Dominican on Tuesday. Mercy has been led by senior Imani DeBose who has a team-high 60 kills and sophomore Selma Vulic who has 52 kills and was named ECC Rookie of the Week. Junior Adriana Lopez-Soto has a team-high 80 digs and Vulic also has 55 digs to her credit. Junior Natalia Garcia orchestrates the offense with her team-high 138 assists and senior NeKendra Liddie has a team-high 19 blocks.

Scouting the Greyhounds

Assumption comes into the weekend winless on the season after dropping matches to Southern Connecticut State, Caldwell and Bridgeport. The Greyhounds went 3-18 last year and are led this season by junior Ariana Orcera who has a team-high 26 kills and 40 digs. Sophomore Alexandra Krawczyk also has 40 digs and freshman Kyra Belden has a team-high 42 assists.

Scouting the Skyhawks

Stonehill has opened their season with wins over Caldwell, Bloomfield and USciences. The Skyhawks will play Pittsburgh-Johnstown before hosting the Mavericks on Sunday. Freshman Basia Peragine leads the team with 25 kills and sophomore Clare Feeman and junior Sophia Poveda both have 24 kills. Senior Rachel Dunlavy has a team-high 49 digs and sophomore Lauren Wilke has a team-high 66 assists.

Scouting the Mountain Cats

The Mountain Cats have started the season 2-2 with wins over Lake Erie and Davenport. They will face Stonehill and Assumption before taking on the Mavericks on Sunday. Caitlin Vrabel leads the team with 45 kills and Tatiana Pitcher is second with 44 kills. Erin Carmody has a team-high 91 digs and J.C. Longeville paces the team with 165 assists.

Next Game

Mercy resumes action on Wednesday, September 18th when they host Pace at 7 p.m.
