Scouting the Mavericks
Mercy is coming off a season in which they went to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1989 and are picked to finish first in the ECC Preseason Poll. The Mavericks return seven of their top eight scorers from last year led by senior Maximiliano Rebolledo-Camus who had a team-high 11 goals and 25 points in 2018. The senior was named ECC Preseason Offensive Player of the Year and senior Gaston Rozenblum was tabbed ECC Preseason Defensive Player of the Year. Senior Manuel Achondo also returns after being named All-American by the United Soccer Coaches following a season in which he scored six goals. Senior Ignacio Mangada also returns after ranking second on the team with eight goals and 20 points. Junior Jordan Williams returns in net after going 12-4-1 and being named All-Region last year. Fourth-year Head Coach Pedro Velazquez also adds a strong recruiting class that will look to get the Mavericks back to the NCAA Tournament.
Scouting the Greyhounds
Assumption finished 8-7-2 last season and was picked sixth in the NE-10 Preseason Poll. The Greyhounds made the NE-10 Tournament last year as a fifth-seed and return Jason Lages who led the team with nine goals and was named NE-10 Second Team All-Conference. Nicolas Cardona also returns after being named NE-10 Second Team All-Conference and Sebastian Jimenez returns in goal after posting 108 saves and an .824 save percentage in 17 starts. Jimenez was named to the NE-10 All-Rookie Team last year as was Connor Willis who returns after recording five goals and 11 points.
