Scouting the Mavericks
Mercy comes off a season in which they made the NCAA Tournament for the second straight year. The Mavericks have been to four NCAA Tournaments since 2013 and are picked to finish second in the ECC Preseason Poll. First-Year Head Coach Danny Leon Jr. returns several key contributors from last year and welcomes a strong recruiting class looking to make it three straight NCAA appearances. Leading the returners is sophomore Anicia Reyes who was third on the team last year with six goals and 13 points. Graduate student RaeAnn Ioannou and senior Trista Seara also return after posting two goals and four assists each. Returning in goal for the Mavericks is junior Melissa Torres who went 12-3-2 with a .833 save percentage and 60 saves. Leading the defensive returners is sophomore Sydney Cooper who played 1,519 minutes last season.
Scouting the Penmen
Southern New Hampshire finished last season 14-4-3 and made the NCAA Tournament. The Penmen were picked second in the NE-10 Preseason Poll and return sophomore Sydney Carney who was second on the team last year with seven goals and 20 points. Dorthea Glorud also returns for her sophomore season after recording six goals and seven assists. Goalkeeper Hannah Rose comes back after a strong freshman season in which she went 13-4-3 with a .819 save percentage and 86 saves.
Scouting the Yellow Jackets
American International went 9-9-1 last season and qualified for NE-10 Tournament. The Yellow Jackets were picked seventh in the NE-10 Preseason Poll and leading the returners is senior Jennifer Hackett who was third on the team last year with seven points on two goals and three assists. Alexandra Sanft returns in goal for AIC who went 3-1 last season with 16 saves in five games.
