Scouting the Mavericks
Mercy enters Saturday's game looking to pick up their second straight win to open the season for the second straight year. The Mavericks were led Thursday by senior Kevin Rodriguez and freshman Matthias Kuhn who both scored in the victory over the Greyhounds. Sophomores Aaron Denk-Gracia and Rainiero Salas both added assists in the win. Junior Joel Serrano made the start in goal and earned his first shutout as a Maverick with four saves. Seniors Santiago Corral and Maximiliano Rebolledo-Camus both recorded a team-high four shots on Thursday.
Scouting the Owls
Southern Connecticut went 9-9 last year and qualified for the NE-10 Tournament. The returners are led by senior Devante Teixeira who had a team-high-tying 13 points on four goals and five assists. Junior Ignasi Perez Cererols also returns after posting four goals and five assists last season. Senior goalkeeper Bailey Bassett also comes back after going 6-4 with a .781 save percentage and 50 saves last season.
