Scouting the Mavericks
Mercy enters Wednesday's game on a two-game losing streak and is coming off a 96-79 loss at Daemen on Sunday. The Mavericks currently sit 2.5 games behind the sixth and final ECC Tournament spot with three games left to play. Mercy is third in the ECC in rebounds per game (38.7) and is led by one-time ECC Player of the Week and three-time ECC Defensive Player of the Week redshirt junior Bryan Griffin. The forward is currently ranked No. 1 nationally in rebounds per game (14.2) and defensive rebounds per game (10.48). Griffin is also ranked No. 2 nationally in total rebounds (298), No. 3 in double-doubles (15) and No. 9 in offensive rebounds per game (3.71). Griffin recorded his 1,000th career point on Friday at Roberts Wesleyan and is three rebounds shy of breaking his own single-season rebounding record set last season. Griffin also leads the ECC in blocks per game (2.0) is ranked No. 3 in the ECC in points per game (19.7) and No. 4 in field goal percentage (52.6). Junior Nakeem Hamilton is averaging 12.4 points per game and freshmen Garrett Kirkland and Brandon Wilson have both been named ECC Rookie of the Week once.
Scouting the Lions
Molloy comes into Wednesday's game on a four-game losing streak and is coming off an 87-75 loss to Queens on Wednesday. The Lions sit in a three-way tie for fourth place in the ECC standings. Molloy is fourth in the ECC in points per game (76.7) and leads the ECC in rebounds per game (43.0). The Lions are led by senior Nick Corbett who is second in the ECC with 22.6 points per game. The guard shoots 39.1 percent from downtown with 3.0 made threes per game and dishes out a team-high 3.8 assists per game. Senior Josh Dennis averages 11.8 points per game and junior Steven Torre posts 10.6 points per game averaging 2.0 threes per contest. Sophomore Pano Pavlidis leads the team with 7.5 rebounds per game and 1.6 blocks per game.
