DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (Feb. 3, 2021) – The Mercy College men's basketball team resumes action this weekend when they host Molloy College in their home opener on Saturday, February 13th at 1 p.m. The Mavericks will then host their ECC foe again on Sunday, February 14th at 1 p.m.

Scouting the Mavericks
· Mercy was picked to finish 5th in the ECC Preseason Poll released in January.
· Mercy is looking to defeat Molloy for the first time since January 13, 2018 when they earned a 67-65 win at Nyack College.
· Mercy looks to snap a five-game losing streak to the Lions.
· In the teams' last meeting on February 19, 2020, Molloy came away with an 87-59 win in Dobbs Ferry.
· Freshman Kerwin Prince was named ECC Rookie of the Week and Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association Division II-III Player of the Week Honorable Mention after averaging a team-high 26.0 points and 8.0 rebounds per game on 65.5 percent shooting.
· Prince is also ranked No. 7 in Division II in field goal percentage and is No. 3 nationally in points per game. He also is No. 9 nationally in offensive rebounds per game (4.50) and is No. 3 in steals per game (3.0).
· Also contributing for the Mavericks is junior James Taylor Jr. who is averaging 11.0 points per game and 5.5 rebounds per game. Sophomores Brandon Wilson and Garrett Kirkland are tied for third on the team in points per game (8.0) and junior Korey Lee is posting 7.5 points per game.
· Mercy is playing their first home game in 357 days due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
· Mercy went 4-11 in Victory Gym last season.
· Mercy is currently ranked No. 3 nationally in fewest fouls (33) and is No. 11 in fewest turnovers (42). The Mavericks are also currently ranked No. 21 in turnovers forced per game (16.50), No. 31 in offensive rebounds per game (12.5) and No. 34 in blocks per game (3.5).
Scouting the Lions
· Molloy was picked to finish third in the ECC Preseason Poll after going 12-17 last season. The Lions qualified for the ECC Tournament where they fell to Bridgeport in the semifinals.
· Molloy is ranked No. 5 in the East Region according to the D2SIDA Media Poll.
· The Lions are coming off a 101-80 victory over D'Youville on Saturday. They were led by sophomore James Montgomery who had a game-high 30 points with 10 rebounds and six assists.
· Montgomery was named ECC Co-Player of the Week after averaging 23.5 points, 12.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game. Freshman Darren Fergus was named to the Honor Roll after posting 15.5 points per game, 3.5 assists per game and 2.5 steals per game.
· Montgomery is currently ranked No. 8 nationally in points per game (23.5), No. 4 in rebounds per game (12.5) and Steven Torre is No. 3 nationally with 4.0 threes per game.
· As a team, Molloy ranks No. 8 nationally in assists per game (18), No. 7 in defensive rebounds per game (29.5), No. 8 in steals per game (9.5) and No. 7 in rebounds per game (43.5).
· Molloy is playing their first road games of the year and went 6-7 in true road games last season.
