Scouting the Mavericks
- In their last game on Wednesday, Mercy dropped a 99-67 decision to No. 10/16 St. Thomas Aquinas. Mercy was led by freshman Kerwin Prince who had a game-high 24 points and nine rebounds.
- Mercy was picked to finish 5th in the ECC Preseason Poll released in January.
- The Mavericks are looking to pick up their first-ever win over Daemen.
- Mercy is currently 0-15 all-time against the Wildcats.
- The Mavericks are looking to pick up their first ECC road win since January 15, 2020 at Queens.
- Prince was named ECC Defensive Player and Rookie of the Week and was tabbed Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association Division II-III Player of the Week Honorable Mention earlier this week after averaging 17.3 points and a team-high 11.0 rebounds per game. The freshman is a two-time ECC Rookie of the Week and is currently averaging 20.8 points and 10.4 rebounds per game on the year on 61.0 percent shooting.
- Also contributing is junior James Taylor Jr. who was named to the ECC Honor Roll this week after posting 17.7 points per game in three games. The junior is currently averaging 14.8 points and 5.2 rebounds per game on the year.
- Sophomores Brandon Wilson and Garrett Kirkland also contribute with 9.4 and 9.2 points per game, respectively.
- The Mavericks win over Molloy on Sunday was their first over the Lions since 2018 and the 26-point margin of victory was Mercy's largest over Molloy since 2005.
- Mercy is currently ranked No. 18 nationally in fewest fouls (90) and is No. 29 in fewest turnovers (96). The Mavericks are also currently ranked No. 34 in turnovers forced per game (15.6), No. 29 in offensive rebounds per game (12.6), No. 48 in scoring offense (79.0) and No. 33 in blocks per game (3.6).
- Prince is currently ranked No. 11 nationally in rebounds per game (10.4), No. 6 in offensive rebounds per game (4.4), No. 26 in field goal percentage (61.0) and No. 28 in points per game (20.8).
Scouting the Wildcats
- Daemen enters Saturday's game on a two-game winning streak and is coming off an 85-69 win over Roberts Wesleyan on Wednesday.
- The Wildcats were picked second in the ECC Preseason Coaches Poll.
- Daemen has won at least 19 games in each of the last nine seasons and is coming off back-to-back seasons with 24 wins that led to NCAA Tournament berths.
- The Wildcats are 2-1 at home this season after going 15-1 at home last year.
- Daemen is led by redshirt senior Andrew Sischo who became the program's all-time leading scorer in last Thursday's loss to Roberts Wesleyan. Sischo is one point shy of 2,000 for his career and is averaging 29.8 points and 14.8 rebounds per game on 59.0 percent shooting. He was named D2CCA First Team All-American and named to the NABC All-America Team last season. He was the ECC Player of the Week and First Team All-ECC selection in 2020. This season he has been named ECC Player of the Week once.
- Sischo currently leads Division II in points per game and rebounds per game. He also is first in offensive rebounds per game (6.67), No. 7 in defensive rebounds per game (8.17) and No. 9 in double-doubles (6).
- Graduate transfer Sean Fasoyiro is one of only four Daemen players who entered the season with at least 25 games of collegiate experience. He is averaging 14.3 points per game and 6.7 rebounds per game on 47.1 percent shooting. He had a season-high 19 points in the win over D'Youville on February 15th.
- Senior Kyle Harris and freshman Andrew Mason also average double figures with 13.0 and 12.3 points per game, respectively.
- Daemen is currently ranked No. 7 nationally in assists per game (18.3) and is No. 3 in rebound margin (9.0)
