WINTER PARK, Fla. (Mar. 12, 2023) – Despite an RBI from senior Nicole Smart (Santa Clarita, Calif./Golden Valley), the Mercy College softball team dropped 8-0 and 5-1 decisions to Rollins College on Sunday afternoon.

The Mavericks (1-13) have dropped two games in a row, while the Tars (15-9) have won nine games in a row.

Game 1: Rollins 8, Mercy 0 (6 Innings)

Junior Shannon Sisco (Cicero, N.Y./Mansfield University) and sophomore Victoria Seppala (Abington, Mass./Abington) led off the game with back-to-back singles and later were moved over to second and third on a sacrifice bunt. However, a pair of groundouts ended the inning without a run scoring. Rollins would score two runs in the bottom of the first to take a 2-0 lead.

The score remained 2-0 until the third inning when the Tars tacked on a run on a sacrifice fly to make it 3-0.

Rollins tacked on two runs in the fourth and fifth innings to take a 7-0 lead and scored their final run of the game in the sixth inning to win via the run-rule.
