COLONIA, N.J. (Nov. 25, 2024) – Mercy University women's basketball sophomore Amani Abuhatab (West Haven, Conn./West Haven) and junior Angelina Barrera (Gloucester City, N.J./Gloucester Catholic) have been named to the East Coast Conference (ECC) Women's Basketball Honor Roll for Week Three.
Abuhatab averaged a team-high 19.0 points per game on 68.4 percent shooting with 6.0 rebounds per game as Mercy went 1-1 on the week. The sophomore opened the week with 15 points on 6-of-11 shooting with nine rebounds against Dominican on Wednesday. The guard ended the week with a game-high 23 points on 7-of-8 shooting from the floor and 9-of-9 shooting from the foul line to go with three rebounds in Mercy's win at Caldwell on Saturday.
Barrera averaged 16.5 points per game on 55.0 percent shooting with a team-high 10.0 rebounds, 2.5 blocks and 1.5 steals per game as Mercy went 1-1 on the week. The junior opened the week with a team-high 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting with 11 rebounds, five blocks and two steals against Dominican on Wednesday. The forward ended the week with 16 points and nine rebounds in the win at Caldwell on Saturday.
The award is the second for both Abuhatab and Barrera this season. Mercy has now earned six awards on the year.
Head Coach Scott Lagas and the Mavericks resume action tomorrow when they play at Bridgeport at 5 p.m.
