DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (Apr. 16, 2025) – Mercy University women's basketball junior Angelina Barrera (Gloucester City, N.J./Gloucester Catholic) has been named Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association (MBWA) Division II Women's Basketball First Team All-Met and senior Jaclyn Stanavich (Amsterdam, N.Y./Amsterdam) and sophomores Grace Lesko (Northampton, Pa./Northampton Area) and Amani Abuhatab (West Haven, Conn./West Haven) have been named All-Met Honorable Mention.
The quartet helped lead Mercy to an 18-10 record and an appearance in the ECC Championship Semifinals for the second straight year.
Barrera is named All-Met for the first time in her career. The junior was named First Team All-ECC after being named ECC Defensive Player of the Week once. The forward averaged 13.5 points per game on 49.6 percent shooting with 6.6 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.1 blocks per game. Barrera had three doubles on the year and recorded a season-high 21 points against Assumption (12/1), UDC (1/11) and STAC (1/25). The junior was also named to the ECC Championship All-Tournament Team.
Stanavich receives All-Met recognition for the second straight year after being a First Team honoree last season. The guard was named Third Team All-ECC after being named ECC Preseason Player of the Year. The senior averaged a team-high 13.7 points per game on 45.0 percent shooting with 5.3 rebounds and a team-high 1.8 steals per game. Stanavich scored in double figures in 14 games and had a season-high 23 points in the win at Post on December 21st.
Lesko takes home All-Met honors for the first time after being named ECC Rookie of the Year and Third Team All-ECC. The five-time ECC Rookie of the Week and one-time Player and Defensive Player of the Week led all ECC rookies in scoring (11.2), field goal percentage (41.3), and rebounding (6.5) while adding 31 steals and 18 blocks. The sophomore scored in double figures 13 times in her rookie campaign, including in 12 of the last 16 games of the season. Lesko had six double-doubles and scored a career-high 30 points in the win over UDC on January 11th.
Abuhatab is named All-Met for the first time in her career. The sophomore was named Second Team All-ECC after averaging 12.7 points per game on 48.7 percent shooting with 5.7 rebounds per game. The guard scored in double figures in 18 games and had two double-doubles. Abuhatab scored a career-high 23 points in the win at Caldwell on November 23rd.
The quartet will be honored at the 92nd MBWA Haggerty Awards dinner on Thursday, April 24th, at the Sleepy Hollow Hotel & Conference Center in Tarrytown, NY.
