COLONIA, N.J. (June 23, 2025) – Mercy University women's lacrosse senior Lindsey Shimborske (Farmingdale, N.Y./Farmingdale) and men's soccer senior Julian Holland (Tokyo, Japan/Iowa Western CC) have been named East Coast Conference (ECC) Scholar-Athletes of the Year in their respective sports.

All ECC Scholar-Athlete of the Year recipients hold at least a 3.50 GPA, are a starter or key reserve and have reached at least sophomore standing both athletically and academically.

Shimborske takes home Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors for the third straight year. The defender graduated in May with a 3.99 GPA as a Health Science – Physical Therapy major. The senior was named IWLCA First Team All-American, USA Lacrosse Magazine First Team All-American, IWLCA First Team All-Region, ECC Defender of the Year and First Team All-ECC. The College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team selection appeared in and started in all 17 games and had a team-high 62 ground balls, 120 draw controls and 39 caused turnovers. The defender played in the IWLCA Senior All-Star Game and set a school record in career caused turnovers.

Holland is named Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the first time and gives men's soccer their fourth straight ECC Scholar-Athlete of the Year recipient. The midfielder graduated in May with a 3.80 GPA as a Business Administration – Management major. The senior was named United Soccer Coaches First Team All-Region, D2CCA First Team All-Region, ECC Defensive Player of the Year and First Team All-ECC. Holland was also named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team. Holland started all 17 games and had two goals, five assists and nine points in 1,456 minutes. He ranked second on the team in assists and was third in points.
