DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (July 21, 2025) – The Mercy University volleyball team has earned the 2025 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award this season. The award, initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale. The Mavericks were also named to the AVCA Team Academic Honor Roll, representing the top 20% of GPAs nationally by division.

The Mavericks earn the award for the third straight year and the fourth time in program history. Mercy finished the academic year with a 3.82 cumulative GPA. The team posted a 3.80 GPA in the fall and a 3.84 GPA in the spring.

Mercy went 16-11 in 2024, qualifying for the NCAA Tournament for the second straight year. The Mavericks finished with their most wins since 2005 and finished runner-up in the ECC for the first time since 2005.
