EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – Powered by a game-high two goals from senior Hugo Martin (Malaga, Spain/Rogers State University), the Mercy University Men's Soccer Team opened its 2025 season with a 2-1 win at East Stroudsburg University on Thursday afternoon.

The Mavericks (1-0) win their season opener for the first time since 2022 and defeat the Warriors (0-1) for the first time since 2022.

Martin had two goals and seniors Mateo Bacigalupo (Buenos Aires, Argentina/Colegio Cardenal Newman) and Matteo Azambuja (Paris, France/Eastern New Mexico University) and junior Diego Guzman (Santiago, Chile/Colegio Everest) added assists.

Head Coach Pedro Velazquez and the Mavericks resume action on Saturday, September 6th when they play at Southern New Hampshire at 1 p.m.
