COLONIA, N.J. – Mercy University Men's Soccer junior Philip Hauge (Bergen, Norway/Central Connecticut State University) has been named the East Coast Conference (ECC) Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for Week Six, graduate student Sean Green (Asheville, N.C./Lees-McRae College) has earned Goalkeeper of the Week and senior Jacob Darwesh Lund-Iversen (Oslo, Norway/Maryville University/Pima CC) and junior Joel Martinez (Madrid, Spain/Mount Aloysius College) have received Honor Roll recognition.
Hauge helped lead a Mercy backline that did not surrender a goal during the minutes he played. The junior opened the week playing the first half of the Mavericks' 3-2 win over Saint Anselm. Mercy was up 2-0 at halftime before Hauge was subbed out to rest. The junior helped lead a Maverick defense that posted a shutout in the Mavericks' 4-0 win over Roberts Wesleyan on Saturday.
Green went 1-0 in goal with seven saves, a 1.000 save percentage and 0.00 goals-against average in 135 minutes of action across two games. The graduate student opened the week with a save in the first half of Mercy's win over Saint Anselm on Tuesday and ended the week with a game-high six saves to earn the shutout win over Roberts Wesleyan on Saturday.
Lund-Iversen scored a goal and dished out an assist in Mercy's 4-0 win over Roberts Wesleyan on Saturday.
Martinez had a team-high two goals and four points on the week as Mercy went 2-0 on the week. The junior opened the week scoring a goal in Mercy's 3-2 win over Saint Anselm on Tuesday. Martinez ended the week scoring the game-winning goal in the Mavericks' 4-0 win over Roberts Wesleyan on Saturday.
Hauge earns Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season. Green receives his second award of the year, Lund-Iversen earns his sixth award, and Martinez picks up his first award. Mercy has now earned 16 awards on the year.
Head Coach Pedro Velazquez and the Mavericks resume action on Wednesday when they play at UDC at 2 p.m.
