DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. – Mercy University Field Hockey seniors Samantha Trickel (Ottsville, Pa./Palisades) and Rebecca McClure (Canastota, N.Y./Pace University), sophomores Kaylise McClure (Lake Grove, N.Y./Sachem North) and Camryn Shea (Sherrill, N.Y./Vernon Verona Sherrill) and freshmen Gwendolyn Smith (Sound Beach, N.Y./Miller Place) and Gianna Bevacqua (Medford, N.Y./Patchogue-Medford) have been named NFHCA Division II Scholars of Distinction, as announced by the organization earlier today.
The Division II Scholar of Distinction program recognizes undergraduate student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.9 or higher through the first semester of the 2025-26 academic year. 144 student-athletes were selected as Scholars of Distinction.
Trickel currently has a 3.90 GPA as a Marketing and International Business major. The senior started all 17 games this season and recorded one goal and two assists on the year.
Rebecca McClure earns the award for a second straight year and has a 3.91 GPA as a Health Science Pre-OT major. The senior appeared in eight games making six starts in goal. McClure recorded one win, 53 saves, a .716 save percentage and 4.10 goals-against average.
Kaylise McClure receives the honor for the second straight year and has a 3.97 GPA as a Biomedical Sciences major. The sophomore was named to the NE10's Faces in the Crowd once this season after playing in 14 games making 11 starts in goal. McClure went 4-7 with 142 saves, a .802 save percentage and one shutout.
Shea has a 4.0 GPA as a Criminal Justice – Forensic Investigations major. The sophomore appeared in four games during the 2025 season.
Smith has a 3.93 GPA as a History major. The freshman started all 17 games last season, leading the team with four assists.
Bevacqua recorded a 4.0 GPA during the fall semester as a History Education major. The freshman appeared in one game during the 2025 season.
