Trahan Scores Game-High 21 Points as Men's Basketball Plays at D'Youville

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Despite a game-high 21 points from junior Jordan Trahan (New Orleans, La./Odessa College), the Mercy University Men's Basketball Team dropped a 65-60 decision at ECC foe D'Youville University on Sunday afternoon at Saints Center Gym.

The Mavericks (2-20, 2-11 ECC) have dropped 12 games in a row and fail to sweep the season series against the Saints (7-15, 7-7 ECC).

The game began with Trahan opening the scoring with a jumper. D'Youville responded with a series of successful plays, including a layup by Elisha Warren and a 3-pointer by Matsell Dawson, pushing it to a 10-5 lead. Junior Ashton Pratt (Alexandria, Va./Chesapeake College) narrowed the gap with a 3-pointer at the 16:03 mark. However, D'Youville extended its advantage through consistent scoring from Trayton Trice and Maxence Massadila, finishing the half with a 36-22 lead. Notably, Trahan was active on both ends, contributing rebounds and points for the Mavericks, but D'Youville's balanced attack and efficient shooting gave it the upper hand.

Mercy made a strong push in the second half, outscoring the Saints 38-29. Sophomore Kohen Rowbatham (Slidell, La./University of New Orleans) was instrumental, hitting two 3-pointers and converting crucial free throws, including a pair at the 6:50 mark to close the gap. Trahan contributed with consistent scoring inside, including a layup with 28 seconds remaining that brought the Mavericks within three points, 63-60. However, D'Youville maintained their lead with key free throws by Sean Reynolds, sealing their win with a final score of 65-60.

Trahan led Mercy with a game-high 21 points, making eight field goals and collecting a game-high six steals. Rowbatham added 18 points and contributed two steals. Freshman Tyrell Miller (Los Angeles, Calif./Frederick K.C. Price III Christian School) was a defensive presence, recording four blocks and grabbing eight rebounds. Senior TJ Holloway (Stratford, Conn./Central Connecticut State University) contributed nine points and five rebounds, also securing one steal in the game.

Warren led the scoring for D'Youville with 14 points, connecting on six of 13 field goal attempts. Warren also contributed six assists and blocked two shots. Trice was efficient from the field, scoring 18 points on 6-of-11 shooting and adding five rebounds.

Mercy shot 33.8 percent (22-of-65) from the floor, 21.1 percent (4-of-19) from downtown and 66.7 percent (12-of-18) from the foul line. D'Youville shot 40.4 percent (23-of-57) from the field, 28.0 percent (7-of-25) from beyond the arc and 85.7 percent (12-of-14) from the charity stripe. D'Youville held a 44-36 edge on the glass.
