Miller Records 100th Career Hit and Game-High Three RBI in Game Two as Softball Earns Split at Molloy

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – Powered by junior Averi Miller (Las Vegas, Nev./Arbor View) recording her 100th career hit and a game-high-tying three RBI in game two, the Mercy University Softball Team dropped a 5-0 decision in game one before earning an 11-0 win in five innings in the nightcap at ECC foe Molloy University on Thursday afternoon.

The Mavericks (9-9, 3-3 ECC) have won six of their last eight games and drop their first meeting to the Lions (7-17, 1-3 ECC) since 2024.

Game 1: Molloy 5, Mercy 0

Molloy scored a run in the third inning on a Mae Savage single to take a 1-0 lead.

The Lions added a run in the fourth inning on a bases-loaded walk to make it 2-0.

Molloy added two runs in the fifth and a run in the sixth to take a 5-0 lead.

Mercy was unable to score, giving Molloy the 5-0 game-one win.

Mercy was led by freshman Madelyn Perrone (Ballston Spa, N.Y./Ballston Spa) and senior Elizabeth Stark (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) who both went 2-for-3. Freshman Emma Jackson (Marlboro, N.Y./Marlboro) and junior Julianna Coluccio (Sicklerville, N.J./Timber Creek Regional) both went 1-for-3 and junior Dylan Reyer (Baldwin, N.Y./Baldwin) went 1-for-4. Senior Mackayla Secoda (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) allowed four earned runs in 6.0 innings to take the loss.

Molloy was led by Casey Kissinger who went 2-for-2 with an RBI. Ava Zicchinelli pitched a complete game shutout to earn the win.

Mercy had seven hits and two errors and Molloy had five hits and one error.

Game 2: Mercy 11, Molloy 0 (5 Innings)

Mercy scored a run in the top of the first to take a 1-0 lead. Reyer singled and Miller later singled for her 100th career hit. Miller stole second before Coluccio grounded out to second, scoring Reyer to give Mercy an early lead.

The Mavericks added five runs in the second inning to take a 6-0 lead. Junior Onnika DeBruhl (Fredericksburg, Va./Riverbend) walked and sophomore Mikaela Mammola (Pawling, N.Y./Pawling) singled. Reyer was later hit by a pitch to load the bases. Junior Allison Murphy (Stony Point, N.Y./North Rockland) then singled home DeBruhl to make it 2-0 and Miller followed with a bases-clearing three-run triple to put the Mavericks up, 5-0. Coluccio then singled home Miller to make it 6-0.

Mercy tacked on five more runs in the third inning to increase their lead to 11-0. Jackson reached on a fielder's choice, DeBruhl walked and Mammola reached on a fielder's choice to load the bases. Reyer then hit a triple to left center, scoring Jackson, DeBruhl and Mammola to make it 9-0. Murphy singled home Reyer to make it 10-0 and Murphy later scored after Coluccio reached on an error by the third baseman to give Mercy an 11-0 lead.

That would be more than enough run support for sophomore Lauren McSweeney (Islip, N.Y./Islip) who pitched a complete game shutout with just two hits allowed to earn the win.

Mercy was led by Miller who went 4-for-4 with three RBI and her 100th career hit. Miller becomes the 21st Maverick in program history to record 100 career hits and now has 103 for her career. Reyer went 2-for-3 with three RBI and three runs and Murphy went 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs. Coluccio went 1-for-4 with two RBI and Mammola went 1-for-3 with two runs. McSweeney allowed just two hits and struck out one to earn her third win of the season.

Molloy was led by Alyssa Bueno who went 1-for-1. Skyler Secondino allowed six runs in 2.0 innings to take the loss.

Mercy had 10 hits and no errors and Molloy had two hits and one error.
