COLONIA, N.J. – Mercy University Women's Lacrosse freshman Jessica Grzelaczyk (Seaford, N.Y./Seaford) has been named the East Coast Conference (ECC) Women's Lacrosse Attacker and Rookie of the Year, senior Olivia LaMonica (Oak Ridge, N.J./Jefferson Township) has been tabbed Goalie of the Year, sophomore Ashlinn Kelly (Farmingdale, N.Y./Farmingdale) has been named Midfielder of the Year, senior Emily Marino (West Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon) has been tabbed Defender of the Year and Head Coach Dawn Sachs has been named Coach of the Year, headlining a conference-best 11 Mavericks named to the ECC All-Conference Teams. Grzelaczyk, LaMonica, Kelly, Marino, sophomore Kayden Meyer (Mastic, N.Y./William Floyd), freshman Ava Franco (Coram, N.Y./Longwood) and junior Riley Wallace (Islip, N.Y./Islip) have been tabbed First Team All-Conference and seniors Andrea Mott (Miller Place, N.Y./Miller Place), Maeghan Callow (Massapequa, N.Y./Plainedge) and Rita-Marie Masi (Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Connetquot) and freshman Keira Laibach (Massapequa, N.Y./St. Dominic) have earned Second Team All-Conference honors, as announced by the conference office earlier today.
Mercy sweeps the postseason awards for the first time in program history.
Grzelaczyk earns the awards after her freshman season. Grzelaczyk was named ECC Offensive Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week twice this season. She has totaled 37 goals and a team-high 31 assists for a team-high 68 points, along with 15 ground balls, 11 caused turnovers, and seven draw controls. The freshman is second in the ECC in points, is third in assists and seventh in goals. She had a career-high 11 points on three goals and eight assists in the win over D'Youville on April 29th.
LaMonica earns Goalkeeper of the Year honors for the first time in her career and is named First Team All-ECC for the first time after being named Second Team All-ECC last season. The senior is 11-3 in goal and ranks second in the conference with a .439 save percentage and is fourth in saves (105) and saves per game (6.18). The preseason Defensive Player of the Year, she has been named ECC Goalkeeper of the Week three times and ranks second on the team with 34 ground balls. She had a season-high 13 saves in the win over Assumption on February 28th.
Kelly takes home Midfielder of the Year honors for the second straight year and is named First Team All-ECC for the second consecutive year. Kelly, the 2025 ECC Rookie of the Year, is second on the team with 64 points on 45 goals and 19 assists. She also has 34 ground balls, 22 caused turnovers, and 34 draw controls. Kelly has recorded three game-winning goals and eight free-position goals. The one-time ECC Offensive Player of the Week and two-time ECC Defensive Player of the Week had a season-high six points on three goals and three assists in the win over Jefferson on April 8th.
Marino receives Defender of the Year honors for the first time and is named All-Conference for the third straight year. The senior is named First Team All-ECC for the second straight year. Marino earned ECC Defensive Player of the Week honors once and leads the team with 33 caused turnovers (third in the ECC) and 43 ground balls (second in the ECC). As a team, the Mavericks lead the conference with 11.53 caused turnovers per game and rank second with 18.47 ground balls per game. The senior had a season-high five caused turnovers and six ground balls in the win over D'Youville on April 29th.
Sachs earns Coach of the Year for the sixth time in her career. Now in her 14th season, Sachs has led the Mavericks to 10 consecutive ECC Tournament appearances. Mercy is seeking its fourth ECC Championship. The Mavericks enter the weekend with a 14-3 overall record and a perfect 6-0 mark in conference play, and they are ranked No. 18 nationally.
Meyer is named First Team All-Conference after being named Second Team All-Conference last year. The sophomore has started all 17 games and has 47 goals, 12 assists, 59 points, 27 ground balls, 24 draw controls and 20 caused turnovers. She leads the team in goals and is third in points. The three-time ECC Offensive Player of the Week is second in the ECC in goals and sixth in points. The attacker had a season-high six goals in the win over D'Youville on April 29th and recorded her 100th career point during the season.
Franco earns All-Conference honors following her first season as a Maverick. The freshman started all 17 games and had 29 goals, 26 assists, 55 points, 34 draw controls and 19 ground balls. The four-time ECC Rookie of the Week is second on the team in assists and had a career-high eight points on four goals and four assists in the win over D'Youville on April 29th.
Wallace is named First Team All-Conference for the second straight year. The junior appeared in all 17 games making 16 starts with 32 goals, six assists, 38 points, 33 draw controls, 20 ground balls and 13 caused turnovers. She ranks fourth on the team in goals and draw controls. The midfielder had a season-high five points on four goals and an assist in the win over Bentley on March 4th.
Mott takes home Second Team All-Conference accolades for the second time in her career. The senior appeared in all 17 games and had 26 goals, 15 assists, 41 points and 15 ground balls. The attacker had a season-high three goals with one assist in wins over STAC and D'Youville.
Callow is tabbed Second Team All-Conference for the second straight year. The senior played in 15 games and had 51 draw controls, three goals and one assist. She ranked fifth in the ECC in draw controls. The midfielder had a season-high and career-high 13 draw controls in the win at Daemen on April 11th.
Masi is named All-Conference for the first time in her career. The senior started all 17 games and had 16 ground balls and 13 caused turnovers. She had a season-high three caused turnovers with two ground balls in the win at Southern Connecticut State on March 11th.
Laibach earns All-Conference recognition after her first season as a Maverick. The freshman started all 17 games and had 17 caused turnovers and 11 ground balls. The defender had a season-high three caused turnovers and two ground balls in the win over Jefferson on April 8th.
