Heidi Serna

Heidi Serna joins the Mercy College women’s soccer coaching staff ahead of the 2018 season.

Serna becomes a member of the staff after a stellar four-year playing career at Mercy. The native of West Covina, California graduated as the program’s all-time leader in goals (29) and points (74) and helped lead the Mavericks to their first-ever Final Four appearance in 2017. As a senior, Serna was tabbed D2CCA Second Team All-American and First Team All-East Region. The midfielder also received All-ECC First Team honors and United Soccer Coaches First Team All-East Region recognition. Serna recorded a hat-trick in Mercy’s ECC Championship win over LIU Post and recorded a goal in Mercy’s NCAA Tournament wins over Southern New Hampshire and LIU Post.

As a junior, Serna was named Second Team All-Region and Second Team All-ECC after starting all 18 games. During her sophomore season, Serna was tabbed to the All-ECC Second Team and started 17 games. Her freshman season saw her record seven goals in just eight games and was named ECC Rookie of the Week twice.

Serna graduated from Mercy in 2018 and is currently pursuing her Master’s at Mercy.
