JD Tom, named the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach in 2016, directs all aspects of sports performance for all Mercy University Varsity athletic programs.
Tom previously served as an Assistant Football Strength & Conditioning Coach with Rutgers University in 2015. During his time working with the Scarlet Knight Football Team, Tom helped the Scarlet Knight Football program compete in the Big Ten Conference and contributed in developing six players who were either drafted or signed as free agents during the 2016 NFL draft.
Tom's professional career began as an Intern Strength & Conditioning Coach at his alma mater, Seton Hall University. From there, he climbed up the coaching ranks through positions with the New York Giants in 2013, and the Princeton University Football Team in 2014.Â
Tom earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Seton Hall University in 2012 and led an extensive athletic career, playing Ice Hockey and Baseball. He holds professional memberships and certifications from the National Strength & Conditioning Association, American Football Coaches Association, and USA Weightlifting Association.
A native of South Brunswick, N.J., Tom resides in Whippany, N.J. with his wife, Melissa and daughter, Olivia.
