Scott Lagas enters his fifth season as Women's Basketball Head Coach and first year as Assistant Director of Athletics in 2022-23.

Lagas led the Mavericks to a historic season in 2021-22. Mercy qualified for the ECC Tournament without every team making it for the first time since 2009. The Mavericks earned their most overall wins (11) and ECC wins (9) in a season since 1997. Mercy received votes in the D2SIDA East Region Top 10 Poll for the first time since 2014-15 and started 8-0 in ECC play for the first time. Lagas oversaw the development of two ECC All-Conference selectins and two All-Met recipients in Katie Wall and Taysha Bender.

In 2020-21, Lagas led the Mavericks to their first ECC Tournament appearance since 2009 and sophomore Katie Wall was named Second Team All-ECC.

During his second season at Mercy, Lagas led the Mavericks to eight wins, doubling their win total over the previous season. Mercy won eight or more games in a season for just the fourth time since 2000-01.

In his first season as head coach, Lagas oversaw sophomore Amber Brown being named Second Team All-ECC and First Team All-Met. Brown finished with the sixth most points in a single season in program history and led the Mavericks in scoring and rebounding.

"I want to thank Matt and the rest of the athletic staff for trusting me to take the women's basketball program to the next level. I am excited to hit the ground running and build a program that will not only compete in the ECC, but regionally and hopefully nationally!" commented Lagas.

"We are very excited about having Scott as our head women's basketball coach," said Director of Athletics Matt Kilcullen Jr. "He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to our program and has a great reputation in player development at every place he has coached."

Lagas brings a successful resume to Dobbs Ferry, coming from Archbishop Molloy High School where he served as the Girl's Basketball Coach and Strength and Conditioning Coach. Lagas compiled a record of 130-65 and finishing in the top four in the CHSAA six out of eight years. He also was named New York State Coach of the Year in 2013 and was New York State Coach of the Year runner-up in 2011 and 2014. During his time at Archbishop Molloy, the team played in three straight city championship games from 2011-15 and Lagas also oversaw state semifinalists teams in 2011, 2012 and 2013. Lagas also oversaw a state finalist team in 2014 which was ranked sixth in the country and No. 2 in the state. While at Archbishop Molloy, Lagas had 22 players go on to play at the collegiate level.

Prior to coaching at Archbishop Molloy, Lagas coached at LIU Post for six seasons where the team won 20 games four times and went to the final four of the East Coast Conference championship every year. Lagas was involved in every aspect of the program from running practices, to running individual workouts, scouting and recruiting multiple All-ECC selections.

Lagas also coached at St. Mary's High School for three years prior to coaching at LIU Post and started and ran a Queens AAU organization called The Bayside Bombers. Lagas also has experience as a trainer, post rehab specialist and facilities manager at Fitness Inspired Training in Long Island.

Lagas currently resides in Floral Park with his wife Randi, daughter Megan and son Ryan.
