Gillespie began his season with a strong month of February, going 1-0 on the mound with a 2.79 ERA and five strikeouts in 9.2 innings pitched. The one-time ECC Honor Roll recipient during the month opened the season pitching five shutout innings with just three hits allowed and three strikeouts to earn his first collegiate win against regionally-ranked Goldey-Beacom on February 16th. The graduate student then pitched 4.2 innings against Adelphi on February 24th with just three hits and three runs allowed with two strikeouts to earn a no-decision in Mercy’s win over the Panthers.
