Gibbons ended his career on a high note in May, leading the Mavericks to their fifth straight ECC Championship and fifth straight NCAA Tournament appearance. The ECC Championship’s Most Outstanding Player had a team-high 23 points on five goals and 18 assists in three games with five ground balls and three caused turnovers. The First Team All-ECC selection opened the month with a goal and six assists in Mercy’s ECC Semifinal win over Molloy on May 1st. The USILA All-American Honorable Mention recipient then had three goals and eight assists in the ECC Final win against Frostburg State on May 4th, setting a single-season school record for assists. The USA Lacrosse Magazine Second Team All-American ended the season with a goal and four assists in Mercy’s NCAA Tournament loss to Saint Anselm on May 12th. The USILA Third Team All-Region selection ended the season with 28 goals, 51 assists and 79 points. Gibbons ranked second nationally in assists per game (3.19).
