The Mercy College men's basketball team got down by double digits early and never recovered, falling at Queens (N.Y.) College 89-75. The host Knights are now 16-6 overall, and 13-4 East Coast Conference, while Mercy is now 1-21, including 1-16 in the ECC.

Queens scored the game's first ten points, as Mercy turned the ball over on its first two possessions. Junior James Mindingall (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) finally got the Mavericks on the board with a conventional three-point play, and the score was 10-3. Quickly, Queens got the lead back to double digits with 16:26 to go in the half, and the Knights were off. The lead would never return to single digits.

For the game, eleven different Mavericks scored points, led by senior Hasan Powell (Bridgeport, Conn./Central), who had 15. Freshman Chaz Morrish (Douglaston, N.Y./St. Mary's) added 11, while senior Ed Wilson (Bronx, N.Y./Msgr. Scanlan) had ten.

Mercy takes the hardwood again on Wednesday, February 16, as Mercy celebrates Pink Week, hosting St. Thomas Aquinas. The week-long celebration culminates on Saturday, February 19, with the annual WBCA PinkZone! game against Molloy.
