White and Gebhardt Hit Double Digit Kills for Volleyball at ECC Rival Molloy

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. (Oct. 25, 2012) – The Mercy College volleyball team took on East Coast Conference rival Molloy College on Thursday night, falling in three sets (25-22, 25-15, 25-21).

The Lions improve to 8-16 overall and 6-6 in the ECC while Mercy drops to 3-20 (0-12).

Sophomore outside hitter Brenna White (Gardnerville, Nev.) led the match with 14 kills and junior outside hitter Nicolette Gebhardt (Pine Bush, N.Y.) added 11 for the Mavericks.  Sophomore setter McKenna Ronan (Chandler, Ariz.) made 29 assists while junior libero Mallorie Hopkins (Commerce, Calif.) recorded 14 digs.

Freshman outside hitter Cassie Palmer (Norwalk, Calif.) led the Lions with eight kills while senior setter Jennifer Koelbel (West Hempstead, N.Y.) and sophomore setter Kerry MacDonald (Floral Park, N.Y.) combined for 23 assists and senior liberi Stefani Koelbel (West Hempstead, N.Y.) recorded 12 digs.

Head Coach Taneisha Cantave and the Mavericks will host Merrimack University (8-15) and American International College (12-11) in a tri-match on Saturday, Oct. 27.  The Mavericks will open the day against Merrimack at 12:00 p.m., after which Merrimack and AIC will square off, and finally Mercy will take on AIC at 4:00 p.m.
