DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (Apr. 13, 2013) - This past weekend, the Mercy College baseball team played St. Thomas Aquinas College in East Coast Conference action. Saturday's doubleheader at Mercy resulted in two victories for the Spartans by final scores of 6-0 and 2-0. On Sunday, STAC defeated the Mavericks, 15-4.

With the three wins, St. Thomas Aquinas improved to 21-10 and 10-5 in the ECC, while the Mavericks dropped to 6-26-1 overall and 3-12 in the league.

Saturday, Game 1: St. Thomas Aquinas 6, Mercy 0

The Mavericks were only able to muster one hit off STAC starting pitcher Robert Frank. Senior Tom Cummings (Coatesville, Pa.) got the start for Mercy and gave up five runs (four earned) over 5.0 innings.

Saturday, Game 2: St. Thomas Aquinas 2, Mercy 0

Mercy freshman starter Christian Hock (Trumbull, Conn.) was solid, hurling 6.2 innings and giving up two runs. However, five Spartans pitchers held Mercy to four hits. Two of Mercy's four hits came from sophomore Anthony McQuade (Lindenhurst, N.Y.).

Sunday: St. Thomas Aquinas 15, Mercy 4

STAC scored in five of the first six innings of the game. The Mavericks plated a pair of runs in the second and ninth frame.

Mercy starting pitcher Ray Thaisz (Staten Island, N.Y.) surrendered 10 runs, although only four of them were earned.

Head Coach Bob Greiner and the Mavericks return to the field on Monday when they close out their four-game series with St. Thomas Aquinas at 3:30 p.m.
