DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (Mar. 2, 2018) – Mercy College Head Field Hockey Coach Deirdre O'Neill has resigned her position as head coach and Media Relations Assistant to accept a position in the private sector.
"We want to thank Deirdre for all her hard work and dedication to the field hockey program in leading the program to their first-ever postseason appearance in 2016," stated Director of Athletics Matt Kilcullen Jr.
O'Neill led the Mavericks for two seasons earning a school-record seven wins in both seasons. O'Neill led Mercy to the program's first-ever postseason appearance in the ECAC Tournament in 2016 with the Mavericks upsetting nationally-ranked Limestone during the season. Under O'Neill's tutelage the Mavericks received three ECAC All-Conference selections and Jackie Ballin and Angela Robbins were tabbed ECC Offensive Player of the Year in 2016 and 2017.
A national search for her replacement is currently underway.
