DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (Aug. 30, 2018) – The Mercy College field hockey team begins their 2018 season on Friday, August 31st when they host No. 8 Kutztown University at 3 p.m. The Mavericks will look to build upon their school-record-tying seven wins from last year under new head coach Morgan Lizotte.

Lizotte and the Mavericks will look to surpass the school record for wins in a season of seven set the last two seasons. Mercy returns a solid core and brings in a strong recruiting class that looks to get the Mavericks over the hump.
Leading the returners is senior Angela Robbins who was an ECAC All-Conference selection and ECC Offensive Player of the Year after leading the Mavericks with eight goals and 19 points. The forward had four game-winning goals and played in all 18 games. Also returning is senior Alicia Williams who posted four goals and three assists last year and will look to build upon those numbers as a senior. Senior Kayly Bryan also returns after recording three goals and one assist in 16 games last year.
Juniors Catherine Brudi and Sabrina Anderson and sophomores Kellie Znaniecki and Brooke Anthony also return to Dobbs Ferry and will look to improve on their numbers from last year after combining for two goals and five assists. Senior Micaela Belz will also look to contribute after playing three games last season.
The defensive returners are led by junior Rebecca Podskoch who had a team-high three defensive saves last season in 18 games. Senior Marissa Spinazzola is also back after finishing with two defensive saves in 18 appearances last season. Juniors Samantha Lorenc and Haley Jandris both return and will look to contribute.
Leading the goalie returners are seniors Cheradyn Pettit and Julia Amell. Pettit appeared in 15 games last season and won five games with 82 saves and a .759 save percentage. Amell comes back for her final season after appearing in eight games with two wins and 38 saves.
Lizotte will also look to newcomers Tabatha Aponte, Savanna James, Briannagh Smith, Alexis Vashon, Lauren Viscione, Cydney Wolff and Madison Zulkoski to add contributions to the team in their first year on campus.
