Game Preview: Women's Basketball Plays at Queens on Wednesday

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (Jan. 14, 2020) – The Mercy College women's basketball team resumes action on Wednesday, January 15th when they play at Queens College in an ECC matchup.

Scouting the Mavericks

Mercy enters Wednesday's game on a seven-game losing streak and is coming off a loss to UDC on Saturday. The Mavericks are looking to defeat the Knights for the first time since January 10, 2018. Mercy currently ranks fourth in the ECC with 63.4 points per game and leads the ECC with 42.9 rebounds per game. The Mavericks also lead the ECC in free throw attempts (352) and makes (242). Mercy is led by junior Amber Brown who leads the team with 14.1 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. Freshman Katie Wall is a three-time ECC Rookie of the Week and is averaging 12.5 points per game with 3.4 assists per game. The guard is second in the ECC in three-point percentage (41.0) and leads the team with 2.0 three-pointers made per game. Senior Abigail Collier is contributing 8.9 points per game and is shooting a team-high 49.1 percent from the floor. Sophomore Taysha Bender is fourth on the team with 6.3 points per game and is second with 1.6 assists per game.

Scouting the Knights

Queens is currently on a two-game losing streak and is coming off a 75-65 loss at Roberts Wesleyan on Sunday. The Knights shoot 40.4 percent from the floor (No. 3 in ECC) and hold the opposition to 38.6 percent shooting (No. 6 in ECC). Queens is led by three-time ECC Rookie of the Week and one-time ECC Player of the Week freshman Raiana Brown who is averaging a team-high 12.9 points and 7.9 rebounds per game. Freshman Zorria West is averaging 12.3 points per game and 6.6 rebounds per game and freshman Harmony Philo is posting 9.1 points per game. Freshman Brianne Moxley is recording 6.8 points per game and is leading the team with 3.1 assists per game.
