Game Preview: Women's Basketball Hosts Molloy for Play4Kay Game on Wednesday

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (Feb. 18, 2020) – The Mercy College women's basketball team resumes action on Wednesday, February 19th with a Play4Kay Game against ECC foe Molloy College.

Scouting the Mavericks

Mercy enters Wednesday's game on a five-game losing streak and is coming off a 79-60 loss at Daemen on Sunday. The Mavericks look to beat Molloy for the first time since January 27, 2016 and look for their first home win over the Lions since February 19, 2011. Mercy currently leads the ECC in rebounds per game (40.6), free throws made (351) and attempted (529). Leading the Mavericks is three-time ECC Rookie of the Week Katie Wall who is tied for the team lead with 11.8 points per game. The freshman also leads the team with 3.1 assists per game and 1.9 made three-pointers per game. Junior Amber Brown also averages 11.8 points per game and brings down a team-high 6.3 rebounds per game. Senior Abigail Collier is averaging a career-high 9.2 points per game and is shooting a team-best 51.3 percent from the floor.

Scouting the Lions

Molloy comes into Wednesday's game on a two-game winning streak and is coming off a 68-45 win over Queens on Wednesday. The Lions currently sit in a tie for third in the ECC standings with the top six qualifying for the ECC Tournament. Molloy is second in the ECC in steals per game (9.9) and leads the ECC in points allowed per game (53.0). They are also second in the ECC in field goal percentage defense (34.9) and are led by three-time ECC Player of the Week graduate student Kadijah Dickson who averages an ECC-best 15.3 points per game with 8.4 rebounds per game. Junior Gabriella Aspuru is second on the team with 12.4 points per game and one-time ECC Defensive Player of the Week junior Giolibeth Perez averages 7.2 points per game and a team-high 4.1 assists per game.
