Game Preview: Women's Basketball Hosts Queens for Senior Day on Saturday

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (Feb. 20, 2020) – The Mercy College women's basketball team resumes action on Saturday, February 22nd when they host Queens College for Senior Day at 12 p.m.

Queens earned a 69-64 win over the Mavericks on January 15, 2020.

Scouting the Mavericks

Mercy has dropped six games in a row and has been eliminated for ECC Tournament contention. The Mavericks are coming off a 71-55 loss to Molloy on Wednesday and lead the ECC in rebounds per game (40.4), free throws made (377) and attempted (557). Mercy is looking to beat Queens for the first time since January 10, 2018 and are searching for their first home win over the Knights since February 7, 2015. Leading the Mavericks is three-time ECC Rookie of the Week Katie Wall who leads the team with 11.9 points per game, 3.0 assists per game and 1.9 made threes per game. Junior Amber Brown is second on the team with 11.5 points per game and leads the team with 6.0 rebounds per game. Senior Abigail Collier is third on the team with 9.7 points per game and is second with 5.4 rebounds per game. The forward is coming off a 22-point outing against Molloy on Wednesday.

Scouting the Knights

Queens enters Saturday's game on a four-game losing streak and is 0-11 in away games. The Knights sit in sixth place in the ECC standings with the top six qualifying for the ECC Tournament. Queens is coming off a 58-45 loss against St. Thomas Aquinas on Wednesday. The Knights are led by one-time ECC Player of the Week, one-time Defensive Player of the Week and six-time Rookie of the Week freshman Raiana Brown who is averaging a team-high 13.8 points and 8.6 rebounds per game in 33.5 minutes per game. Freshman Brianne Moxley averages 8.3 points per game and freshman Harmony Philo puts up 7.8 points per game and a team-high 2.3 threes per contest.
