Scouting the Mavericks
Mercy looks to get back in the win column after dropping a 90-57 decision to RV St. Thomas Aquinas on Saturday. The Mavericks currently sit two games behind Queens for the sixth and final ECC Tournament spot with seven conference games left. Mercy is looking to win at UDC for the first time since February 19, 2017. The Mavericks are currently third in the ECC in points per game (62.7) and lead the ECC in rebounds per game (42.0). Mercy also leads the ECC in free throws made (298) and attempted (443), shooting 67.3 percent as a team from the foul line. Junior Amber Brown leads the Mavericks with 13.2 points per game and 7.1 rebounds per game in a team-high 29.8 minutes per game. Three-time ECC Rookie of the Week freshman Katie Wall is second on the team with 11.9 points per game and leads the team with 3.3 assists per game. The guard is averaging a team-high 1.9 made three-pointers per game and is shooting a team-best 42.0 percent from downtown (No. 2 in ECC). Senior Abigail Collier is third on the team with 9.3 points per game and is shooting a team-best 49.6 percent from the floor.
Scouting the Firebirds
UDC is coming off a win over Salem last Wednesday and have won two of their last three games. The Firebirds are currently a half game out of the sixth and final ECC Tournament spot and are looking for their first home conference win of the year. UDC averages an ECC-low 57.6 points per game and shoots an ECC-low 33.9 percent from the floor. Junior Maya Thomas leads the Firebirds with 13.3 points per game and 2.4 steals per game in a team-high 32.1 minutes per game. Thomas also averages a team-high 2.7 made three-pointers per game along with 2.1 assists per game. One-time ECC Rookie of the Week freshman Latavia Jackson also averages double figures with 12.0 points per game and a team-high 5.8 rebounds per game. Freshman Halia Ellis puts up 5.7 points per game and a team-high 3.8 assists per game in 31.6 minutes per game.
