Scouting the Mavericks
Mercy looks to snap a two-game losing streak and is coming off a 66-53 loss at District of Columbia on Wednesday. The Mavericks currently sit 2.5 games out of the sixth and final ECC Tournament spot with six games left to play. Mercy is looking to defeat New York Tech for the first time since February 4, 2012. Mercy currently leads the ECC in rebounds per game (41.9), free throws made (312) and attempted (467). Leading the Mavericks is junior Amber Brown who is averaging a team-high 12.7 points and 6.8 rebounds per game in 29.0 minutes per game. Freshman Katie Wall is a three-time ECC Rookie of the Week and is second on the team with 11.6 points per game. The guard also leads the team with 3.3 assists per game and 1.8 made three-pointers per game. Wall is third in the ECC in three-point percentage (41.3) and leads the ECC in free throw percentage (84.1). Senior Abigail Collier is third on the team with 9.2 points per game and is second on the team with 5.3 rebounds per game. Sophomore Taysha Bender is averaging 7.6 points per game on the season and is putting up 11.6 points per game over her last five games.
Scouting the Bears
New York Tech has won three of their last four games and is coming off a 55-48 win over Molloy on Saturday. The Bears currently sit in fourth place in the ECC standings with the top six qualifying for the ECC Tournament. New York Tech is third in the ECC in three-pointers made (129) and blocks per game (3.7). The Bears are also third in the ECC in points per game allowed (54.5) and field goal percentage defense (36.1). Two-time ECC Defensive Player of the Week sophomore Ketsia Athias leads the Bears with 12.4 points per game, 8.8 rebounds per game (No. 2 in ECC) and a 51.9 field goal percentage (No. 4 in ECC). Junior Meg Knollmeyer is second on the team with 10.3 points per game and 8.2 rebounds per game and is a two-time ECC Defensive Player of the Week. Junior Shalie Frierson averages 9.5 points per game and sophomore Zoe Amalbert dishes out a team-high 3.9 assists per game.
