The Mavericks (6-2-4, 5-1 ECC) suffer their first ECC loss and first loss since September 15th. The Lions (11-2, 5-1 ECC) have won four games in a row.

Torres had four saves to take the loss. Senior Jessica Hoyt (Kings Park, N.Y/Kings Park) and graduate student Nikki Bermudez (Oceanside, N.Y./New York Tech) each had a shot on goal.

Molloy was led by Lexi Verni who scored and by Jackie Carty who had two saves to post a shutout.

The two teams each had a shot on goal in the first half and Verni hit the crossbar in the 39th minute. However, the game remained scoreless heading into halftime.

Torres made an early save in the 47th minute to keep it 0-0. Verni gave Molloy the lead in the 55th minute after Torres turned the ball over and Verni shot the ball into the net at a tight angle to give the hosts the lead.

Hoyt recorded a shot on goal in the 85th minute but the Mavericks were unable to find the equalizer and the Lions came away with the win.

Molloy held a 10-6 edge in shots and a 2-1 edge in corner kicks.
