Scouting the Mavericks

Mercy is coming off a 58-39 loss to Chestnut Hill on Saturday. The Mavericks were led by senior Taysha Bender who had a team-high 10 points. Junior Kellie Nudd had eight points and sophomore Maria Tedesco netted seven points. Mercy has started ECC play 1-0 for the first time since 2009 and is looking to start 2-0 in conference play for the first time since 1992. The Mavericks are looking for their first-ever win against Roberts Wesleyan on Friday. Mercy is 0-16 all-time against the Redhawks. Junior Katie Wall is a one-time ECC Player of the Week and two-time Honor Roll recipient. Junior Asha Talib was named ECC Defensive Player of the Week on November 22nd. Mercy was picked seventh in the ECC Coaches' Poll after going 1-8 in 2021. The top six teams in the ECC standings qualify for the ECC Tournament. Mercy made their first ECC Tournament appearance since 2009 last season. Wall ranks fourth in the ECC in points per game (17.3), second in assists (4.4) and is third in steals per game (2.4). Senior Taysha Bender ranks sixth in the conference in points per game (15.0) with 1.9 made threes per game. Junior Kellie Nudd is averaging 9.6 points per game and 5.9 rebounds per game. Talib is posting 5.0 points per game and a team-high 6.8 rebounds per game. Talib is currently ranked 12th in the ECC in rebounds per game. Sophomore Maria Tedesco is averaging 7.0 points per game and 5.9 rebounds per game and has scored in double figures in three games this year. Mercy is currently third in the ECC in steals per game (8.1).

Scouting the Redhawks

Roberts Wesleyan is coming off a 75-66 win over D'Youville on Sunday. The Redhawks were picked second in the ECC Coaches' Poll after going 12-7 last season, winning the ECC Championship and qualifying for the NCAA Tournament. Roberts Wesleyan is 1-3 on the road this season and is led by Georgia Haverlock who averages a team-high 13.6 points per game. Taryn Wilson is second on the team with 12.3 points per game and Dimitra Gkizani is posting 9.1 points per game. Gkizani also averages a team-high 7.1 rebounds per game and Danielle DiCintio dishes out a team-high 4.8 assists per game.
