Scouting the Mavericks
Mercy comes off a 3-2 win over Pace on Tuesday. The Mavericks were led by graduate student Laurern Viscione who made a career-high 21 saves and by graduate student Alyssa Sacco and juniors Rieley Fitzgerald and Kate Ringstad who all scored. Junior Ally Schreck and Viscione were named to the NE10 Honor Roll on Monday. Viscione, junior Rachel Palladino, and sophomore Kasey Volz were named to the NE10 Honor Roll on September 27th. The Mavericks are off to their best start in program history and look to start 5-1 for the first time ever. Mercy is also off to their best NE10 start and looks to start 4-1 in NE10 play for the first time. With a win over Southern New Hampshire, the Mavericks would have their most wins in a season since 2018 and most NE10 wins in program history. Mercy is also looking to win four games in a row for the first time since 2015. The Mavericks are 1-3 all-time against Southern New Hampshire with the lone win coming in 2015. The Mavericks have been led by Sacco who has a team-high 10 points on a team-high four goals with two assists. Palladino is third on the team with six points by way of a goal with a team-high four assists. Schreck is fourth on the team with five points on two goals and an assist. Rosenfeld has two goals and junior Rieley Fitzgerald is second on the team with seven points on two goals and three assists. Volz scored the game-winning goal in the win over Molloy on September 20th. Viscione is 4-1 in goal with 38 saves, a .809 save percentage and 1.80 goals-against average. The Mavericks just missed out on qualifying for the NE10 Championship and will look to qualify for the championship for the first time in program history. Mercy enters their third season as members of the NE10 and have won three NE10 games in each of their previous two seasons. The Mavericks were picked 13th in the NE10 Preseason Poll and look to prove the coaches' prediction wrong. Leading the returners for Head Coach Marissa Spinazzola is Schreck who had a team-high 15 points last season on a team-high six goals with three assists. Volz was third on the team with eight points on two goals and a team-high four assists. Sacco also returns after recording seven points on two goals and three assists. Rosenfeld and Fitzgerald both had three assists as well last season. Senior Lily Sherry will also see action after recording a goal last season. Viscione returns in goal after going 3-12 with 135 saves, a .738 save percentage and 3.37 goals-against average. Sophomore Alexandra Giordano also returns in goal after making 10 saves in four appearances.
Scouting the Penmen
Southern N.H. dropped a 3-2 double-overtime decision to Franklin Pierce on Saturday. The Penmen were picked seventh in the NE10 Preseason Poll after going 6-11 overall last season and 6-8 in NE10 play. Southern N.H. is led by junior Emma Thibodeau who has a team-high three goals and a team-high-tying six points. Sophomore Annemartine Christis also has a team-high six points on two goals and two assists and sophomore Carley Lovejoy has two goals and an assist. Freshman Emma Peeters is 2-6 in goal with 55 saves, a .696 save percentage and 3.15 goals-against average.
