Scouting the Mavericks

Mercy is coming off a 4-1 loss to Frostburg State on Sunday. The Mavericks were led by junior Ally Schreck who scored. Junior Victoria Devlin was named to the NE10 Honor Roll for the second straight week and Viscione was also named to the Honor Roll on Monday. Viscione was named NE10 Goalkeeper of the Week, graduate student Alyssa Sacco was named Player of the Week and junior Flynn Kirk was named to the Honor Roll on October 17th. Viscione was also tabbed to the Synapse Sports Division II Honor Roll. Schreck and Viscione were named to the NE10 Honor Roll on October 10th. Viscione, junior Rachel Palladino, and sophomore Kasey Volz were named to the NE10 Honor Roll on September 27th. The Mavericks are off to their best start in program history and look to start 6-6 for the first time ever. Mercy is also off to their best NE10 start and looks to start 5-5 in NE10 play for the first time. With a win over Molloy, the Mavericks would have their most wins in a season since 2018 and currently have their most NE10 wins in program history. The Mavericks currently sit in a tie for the eighth and final NE10 Championship spot. Mercy is 10-1 all-time against Molloy and have won six straight meetings. The Mavericks have been led by Sacco who has a team-high 17 points on a team-high seven goals with three assists. Palladino is third on the team with nine points by way of two goals with a team-high-tying five assists. Schreck is tied for third on the team with nine points on four goals and an assist. Rosenfeld has two goals and junior Rieley Fitzgerald is second on the team with 11 points on three goals and a team-high-tying five assists. Junior Katie Ringstad has a goal and three assists on the season and Devlin and Kirk both have a team-high five defensive saves. Volz scored the game-winning goal in the win over Molloy on September 20th. Viscione is 5-6 in goal with 96 saves, a .787 save percentage and 2.52 goals-against average. The Mavericks just missed out on qualifying for the NE10 Championship and will look to qualify for the championship for the first time in program history. Mercy enters their third season as members of the NE10 and have won three NE10 games in each of their previous two seasons. The Mavericks were picked 13th in the NE10 Preseason Poll and look to prove the coaches' prediction wrong. Leading the returners for Head Coach Marissa Spinazzola is Schreck who had a team-high 15 points last season on a team-high six goals with three assists. Volz was third on the team with eight points on two goals and a team-high four assists. Sacco also returns after recording seven points on two goals and three assists. Rosenfeld and Fitzgerald both had three assists as well last season. Senior Lily Sherry will also see action after recording a goal last season. Viscione returns in goal after going 3-12 with 135 saves, a .738 save percentage and 3.37 goals-against average. Sophomore Alexandra Giordano also returns in goal after making 10 saves in four appearances.

Scouting the Lions

Molloy is coming off a 2-0 Senior Day loss to Assumption on Saturday. The Lions enter Wednesday's game on a 12-game losing streak. Molloy is coached by Mercy alum Catherine Brudi who is in her second season at the helm of the Lions. The Lions have been led by Devin Harkins who has a team-high-tying three goals and six points. Gianna Mastrocco also has a team-high-tying three goals and six points and Alessandra Vidal has a team-high two assists. Ally Saigh is 0-6 in goal with 64 saves, a .727 save percentage and 4.36 goals-against average and Gianna Festa is 1-4 with 35 saves, a .700 save percentage and 3.75 goals-against average.

Mercy resumes action on Saturday, November 5th when they play at Assumption at 1 p.m.
