WEST BABYLON, N.Y. (Nov. 3, 2023) – Mercy University women's soccer sophomore Kamy Anaya (Long Beach, Calif./Long Beach Poly) has been named the East Coast Conference (ECC) Goalkeeper of the Year, headlining seven Mavericks named to the ECC All-Conference Teams. Anaya, sophomore Ancksu Dixon (Freeport, N.Y./Freeport) and seniors Madison Rosa (Dublin, Calif./Dublin) and Skyler Schwenkler (San Diego, Calif./Grossmont) were tabbed First Team All-ECC, and graduate student Tyra Anderson (Windsor, Conn./Windsor), senior Jennifer Silva (Jurupa Valley, Calif./Jurupa Valley) and sophomore Maleah Tarin (Eastvale, Calif./Chino Hills) were named Second Team All-ECC.
Anaya is named Goalkeeper of the Year for the second straight year after being named First Team All-ECC last season. The sophomore is 9-4-3 in goal with 44 saves, a .759 save percentage and 0.88 goals-against average. Anaya was named ECC Defensive Player of the Week once and was tabbed to the Honor Roll twice. The goalkeeper had a season-high eight saves at St. Thomas Aquinas on October 7th.
Dixon is tabbed First Team All-ECC for the second straight year after being named ECC Rookie of the Year last season. The sophomore was named to the ECC Honor Roll three times and had a team-high 13 points on a team-high-tying five goals and three assists. The forward had a season-high five points on two goals and an assist in the win over Lincoln on October 22nd.
Rosa receives First Team All-ECC honors for the first time after being tabbed Third Team All-ECC last season. The senior was named to the ECC Honor Roll once this season and ranked second on the team with 10 points. The midfielder ranked tied for first on the team in goals with five. Rosa scored both goals in Mercy's win over Daemen on October 28th.
Schwenkler is named First Team All-ECC for the second time in her career after also receiving the honor in 2021. The senior has been named All-Conference each year she has played and was tabbed Third Team All-ECC last season. The defender has appeared in and started in all 16 games and has a team-high-tying three assists on the year. Schwenkler recorded an assist on both goals in Mercy's 2-1 win over Southern Connecticut State on October 10th.
Anderson takes home All-Conference honors for the second straight year after being named Third Team All-ECC last season. The graduate student has appeared in 16 games making 14 starts with one assist and 1,224 minutes played. The defender has helped lead a Mercy backline that has surrendered just 14 goals in 16 games. Anderson dished out an assist in the Mavericks 2-1 win over Staten Island on September 27th.
Silva is tabbed Second Team All-ECC for the second straight year. The senior appeared in 15 games making 11 starts with one goal, two assists and four points. The midfielder scored the game-winning goal in Mercy's 3-0 win over D'Youville in the ECC Championship First Round on November 2nd. She also had an assist in the win over Staten Island on September 27th.
Tarin is named All-Conference for the first time after being named ECC Rookie of the Week twice this season. The sophomore appeared in all 16 games making 13 starts with four goals, one assist and nine points. She ranks fourth on the team in goals and points. The midfielder scored the game-winning goal in Mercy's wins over Queens and Staten Island. Tarin also scored a goal against Franklin Pierce and St. Thomas Aquinas.
