WEST BABYLON, N.Y. (May 1, 2023) – Mercy College women's lacrosse graduate student Jaclyn Grzelaczyk (Seaford, N.Y./New York Tech) has been named the East Coast Conference (ECC) Women's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, sophomore Lindsey Shimborske (Farmingdale, N.Y./Farmingdale) has been tabbed Defensive Player of the Week and freshman Andrea Mott (Miller Place, N.Y./Miller Place) has been named Rookie of the Week for Week 11. Sophomore Leah Hansen (Greenlawn, N.Y./Harborfields) was tabbed to the Honor Roll.

Grzelaczyk had a team-high 10 points on six goals and four assists as Mercy went 2-0 on the week. The graduate student had a game-high seven points on four goals and three assists in the win over Jefferson on Wednesday and had two goals and an assist in the win over Daemen on Saturday.

Shimborske had a team-high 10 ground balls and 16 draw controls with four caused turnovers helping lead a Mercy defense that allowed just 13 goals in two wins. The sophomore had six ground balls, eight draw controls and two caused turnovers in the win over Jefferson on Wednesday. Shimborske ended the week with four ground balls, eight draw controls and two caused turnovers in the win over Daemen on Saturday.

Mott had two goals and a team-high six assists as Mercy went 2-0 on the week. The freshman had a goal and four assists in the win over Jefferson on Wednesday and ended the week with a goal and two assists in the win over Daemen on Saturday.

Hansen had a team-high seven goals with two assists as Mercy went 2-0 on the week. The sophomore opened the week with four goals and an assist in the win over Jefferson on Wednesday and had three goals and an assist in the win over Daemen on Saturday.

The award is the third for Grzelaczyk, the eighth for Shimborske, the third for Mott and second for Hansen this season. Mercy has now earned 22 awards on the year.

Head Coach Dawn Sachs and the Mavericks resume action on Thursday when they host D'Youville at 12 p.m.
