Kipnes Named to CSC Academic All-America Division II At-Large Third Team

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (June 21, 2023) – Mercy College men's lacrosse graduate student Jack Kipnes (Wantagh, N.Y./MacArthur) has been named to the 2023 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America Division II At-Large men's team. Kipnes earned Third Team honors and was one of two honorees from the East Coast Conference.

Kipnes becomes the seventh student-athlete to receive Academic All-America honors in school history. He is the first to earn the honor since men's soccer's Matthias Kuhn earned the award in 2021. Kipnes is the first men's lacrosse student-athlete to earn the award since Jesse Wood in 2014.

The native of Wantagh, New York earned All-District honors for the first time earlier this month and had a 3.82 GPA as an undergraduate with a degree in Business Administration-Finance and currently has a 3.97 GPA in graduate school as a Organizational Leadership Business major. Kipnes was named USILA Third Team All-American and USA Lacrosse Magazine Second Team All-American. He was tabbed USILA Second Team All-Region and First Team All-ECC. The defender was selected to play in the USILA Division I/II Senior All-Star Game and was named ECC Preseason Defensive Player of the Year. He appeared in 17 games this season making 16 starts with one assist, 45 ground balls and 14 caused turnovers. The graduate student helped lead the Mavericks to their fourth straight ECC Championship and fourth straight NCAA Tournament berth.
