Scouting the Mavericks
The Mavericks are coming off a 5-0 loss to No. 3 Kutztown on Thursday. Mercy is coming off a season in which they went 8-7 overall and 7-6 in NE10 play. The Mavericks posted their first-ever winning season and had their most overall and NE10 wins in a season last year. Mercy just missed out on qualifying for the NE10 Championship for the first time due to a tiebreaker. The Mavericks have been picked a program-best 11th in the NE10 Preseason Poll. Leading the returners for Head Coach Marissa Spinazzola is senior Ally Schreck who had eight goals and three assists last season. Senior Rachel Palladino also returns after posting three goals and six assists last season and senior Rieley Fitzgerald also returns after recording three goals and five assists. Senior Kelly Rosenfeld had five goals last season and senior Kate Ringstad had a goal and a team-high seven assists a year ago. On defense, seniors Victoria Devlin and Flynn Kirk both return after combining for 14 defensive saves last year. Junior Kasey Volz also returns after scoring the winning goal against Molloy last season. Junior Alexandra Giordano returns in goal after appearing in two games last season with six saves. Senior Rachel Palladino has a team-high three goals and six points on the year and was named to the NE10 Honor Roll on Monday. Junior Jessica Evans is second on the team with five points on two goals and an assist. Senior Kate Ringstad has two goals and senior Rieley Fitzgerald and sophomore Samantha Trickel both have a goal and an assist. Senior Kelly Rosenfeld and junior Kasey Volz both have a goal and senior Ally Schreck has a team-high two assists. Senior Victoria Devlin has a team-high three defensive saves and junior Alexandra Giordano is 0-1 in goal with 28 saves and a .848 save percentage. Sophomore Rebecca McClure is 1-1 in goal with 10 saves and a .714 save percentage. The Mavericks are looking to win at Saint Michael's for the first time and look to win their NE10 opener for the first time.
Scouting the Purple Knights
Saint Michael's is coming off a 5-2 loss to No. 4 Saint Anselm on Wednesday. The Purple Knights were picked ninth in the NE10 Preseason Poll after going 5-12 last season. Saint Michael's has been led by Bridgie Loughlin who has a team-high three goals and six points. Allie Medeiros has a goal and Morgan Cathcart, Anna Comiskey and Chloe Sapienza all have one assist on the year. Addy Fenton has a team-high two defensive saves and Courtney Watt is 0-3 in goal with 40 saves, a .727 save percentage and 5.25 goals-against average. Riley O'Connor is 0-2 with 13 saves, a .722 save percentage and 3.33 goals-against average.
