Women's Basketball Ranked Program-Best 5th in D2CSC Preseason East Region Top 10 Poll

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (Nov. 5, 2024) – The Mercy University women's basketball team is ranked a program-best No. 5 in the Division II College Sports Communicators (D2CSC) Preseason East Region Top 10 Poll.

Mercy is ranked in the poll in the preseason for the first time and is coming off a season in which they qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1985 and advanced to the ECC Championship Final for the first time in program history. The Mavericks were picked first in the ECC Preseason Poll for the first time and finished with their most wins in a season (20) since 1985, best regular season finish in the ECC and their most ECC wins (12) in school history. Returning for the Mavericks is ECC Preseason Player of the Year senior Jaclyn Stanavich and last year's ECC Defensive Player of the Year junior Angelina Barrera.

Head Coach Scott Lagas and the Mavericks open their 2024-25 season on Saturday, November 9th when they face Saint Anselm at 3:30 p.m. at Southern Connecticut State.
